Of course the SC can do anything it wants. If Obama gets his way we'll have gay education beginning in kindergarten. The SC can ban free speech, gun ownership, legalize infanticide and euthanasia, you name it. BTW what is the benefit to society from extending the privilege of marriage to same sex couples? Doesn't marriage exist to provide an optimal framework for raising children? Its not ultimately about love or relationships or emotional commitments. You don't need society's recognition for that. African Americans are generally against gay rights. True. They're also more against illegal immigration than whites. They generally support vouchers to facilitate school choice. But they vote for candidates who work against them on those issues.
