The 6.4 trillion dollar question, in my mind at least, is have we already started descending an icy slope, or can things be put to right. There are some whose opinions I value very highly who believe we will delay, but not stave off, the inevitable. All very disturbing. If inflation starts to spiral out of control; or the fiscal deficit; or both, evasive action will be the order of the day. And one had better do so before the masses, before protective manoeuvers, e.g. foreign savings accounts or bullion, will be prohibited.
