I thought I answered it. The 14th amendment embodies the idea that equal treatment of all citizens under the law is a basic tenet of a true democracy. Gay couples form family units that are as strong, supportive, and nurturing as hetero families. In fact, I would argue that they are stronger, because the partners need to be very committed and endure prejudice and scorn from some of their 'family value Christian' neighbors. Their families are less 'circumstantial' than many of the shotgun weddings thrown together because of a lack of proper birth control. You have demonstrated that the lack of proper anti-predator education extends even to adults. Most predators KNOW the child - a relative, teacher, neighbor, coach, etc. Teaching children to beware of strangers does NOT protect them from the most likely predators. They must be taught that they should not allow anyone to touch them in a way that makes them uncomfortable, and that in such circumstances, it is ok to say no to an adult they know. THAT is the sort of education that Obama supports and voted for, not 'tab A into slot B' for kindergarteners.
