Bingo. I think Americans are tired of ideological stuff - left and right. The right's mantra of "no new taxes, never, ever" doesn't fly in the face of continued deficits. "Free" universal health care isn't going to happen, either. Americans want competent plans to address the issues without respect to ideology, but that means both the left and right will be screaming for his scalp in four years. So be it. The 56 million ? who voted for Obama are not nuts, and if he focuses on the middle he'll be fine.

I think Obama will govern from the middle. A very smart, cautious man who wants to succeed. We have him down as a wide-eyed radical, but that's not where he will come from.
