Obama (or his speechwriter), in his victory speech 11/4, confused the Gettysburg Address with something 200 years ago:

This campaign ("victory") "drew strength from the not-so-young people who braved the bitter cold and scorching heat to knock on doors of perfect strangers, and from the millions of Americans who volunteered and organized and proved that more than two centuries later a government of the people, by the people, and for the people has not perished from the Earth."

"Shall not perish from the earth" are the last words of the Gettysburg Address from 1863 which was 145 years ago. The Declaration of Independence was 232 years ago.

What is amazing is that no media, no press, and no one on this board questioned that line.
