If so, you were far from rational. At that point, we really didn't know what the scope of the attack might be.

That said, it is foolish, even today, to view it as a mosquito bite. That you believe this is highly suggestive that you simply don't understand the issues involved. You don't understand bin Laden or AQ, you don't understand the demeanor or technical capability of the ME extremists.

This complacent attitude -- essentially the same as Z's, which I thought was utterly stupid -- is at odds with every knowledgeable person on the subject. I know of no expert who believes there won't be further attempts against us, and pretty much everyone believes that each successive effort to attack us here will be aimed at killing more Americans.

It isn't about fear for me (nobody is going to be attacking where I live!). It is solely about comprehending we are engaged in a war we have to win. The next attack against us is a battle in the war.
