I see. That's helpful.

Unfortunately, it gets murky because there are those on the right who speak of individual liberty - but then fully support measures such as warrent less wiretapping in the name of national security.

There are a countless other issues where the definitions don't seem to fit. At random... lets look at credit cards. Should goverment set rules to protect consumers?

Credit cards are pretty much part of the fabric of our financial system now - yet the credit card companies seem to have amassed way too much power at the expense of consumers - and it's not easy to switch cards because most have similar terms. You know the issues... interest rates increased at will without cause, payment dates set for Sundays and holidays, teaser rates, credit scores based on secret formulas... does the right favor government rules on the issues mentioned above to even the playing field here? Or should government butt out?

Yes, I know, lefty Joe Biden is in the back pocket of the card companies - but we're working on him.

The republican party (judged by what they did with power, not their platform) is lefty.
