tim ,here is a link to historicle tax table... look at 1954 for example..... top rates of 59 percent for those earning 22.000 dollars... 47 percent for those earning 16.000..... 89 percent for earning 100.000 dollars and 20 percent for 0 to 2000 dollars taxfoundation.org
