LA County has an existing 8.25 percent sales tax, a full percent higher than some other parts of the state (although other counties have the same rate).

We just passed Prop R, which raises the LA County sales tax by a half cent for 30 years to pay for transit improvements. Now Arnie wants to bump up the sales tax by 1.5 cents.

That would give LA County a 10.25 percent sales tax rate.

Good luck to all the car dealers in LA County. Thankfully I'm right on the border of Ventura County, whose rate is 7.25 percent. My Costco is just inside Ventura County, I wonder if it's going to get more crowded.
