Off topic (for real!) ... did you notice the discussion on some of these bit twiddling solutions (Vertex2000 and 19T0) where they mentioned that "nobody does multiplication or division on dates" ???

Oh, really? Hmmmm ... how do they determine that a year is a leap year then? Most people I know divide by 4 (and 100 and 400). Unless I'm mistaken, that's using division with a date. Sometimes these wizards who design quick fixes just don't seem to have it all together yet.

I guess the Y2K is yet another instance of "You get what you pay for".
