How do Fannie and Freddie, used to be private companies, distort the housing market? They have been around for a long time without imploding as they did.

They may have had an implicit backing from the government but I don't think that was the problem as that hasn't changed over their decades of being. Besides, plenty of private corporations are failing as well so being a government created entity isn't really the problem.

I keep asking you questions because you have general purpose complaints that don't appear to be supported by reality. I've already told you that I dislike funds for corn simply because I believe it is not a good thing for us to be eating in such quantities. I also dislike the war in Iraq which is so expensive and long running that it is not temporary. I'm sure we don't need the Bridge to Nowhere even though the money has already gone there. We don't need subsidies for energy companies that are making record profits. That's just silly.

There appears to be hefty piece of corporate welfare. If we banned lobbyists and went for 100% publicly funded campaigns we might get rid of a big chunk of waste.
