But when you say that this is because, according to some religious beliefs, homosexuality is a sin, then personal belief is being imposed on everyone's life- something I think Lane wrote excellently about earlier today. I don't disagree with this post, and I wasn't offended by the Mormon statement. I also agree that Lane wrote a beautiful response to Neeka. What I think, though, is often missing is that when we are accused of trying to impose our beliefs on everyone's life is this is also taking place on the other side. Isn't a proposition like Prop 8 at it's core an effort by a group of people to impose their belief that the definition of marriage be expanded? It seems to me that we have dueling belief systems with EACH side trying to impose their definition of certain moral issues on the other.
