Marriage is a union between two consenting, of age adults. Legally, we bestow certain benefits to that union. To discriminate against gay people by disallowing those benefits is a direct violation of the 14th amendment.

And the 'promiscuity' argument against gay marriage is not only bunk, it is a non sequitur. Since when do we have a fidelity requirement for marriage? If we did, a whole lot of people - including prominent politicians - would not qualify for marriage.

I thought that Christians were supposed to be non-judgemental and tolerant. I don't understand why some church groups spend so much time and energy opposing rights for others while judging them by their beliefs. Get this: homosexuality is NOT a crime. Belief is still protected by the Constitution - that doesn't mean that religions can foist their beliefs - in the form of discriminatory legislation - on the rest of us.
