I believe you know that there is a difference between a gaffe and utter stupidity. Saying 57 instead of 47 at the end of a long day, or misspeaking the name of one death camp for another is one thing. Heck, I have a calendar of 'Bushisms' - 365 stupid things he said. Some people are more gaffe-prone than others.

But not knowing what countries are in NAFTA, that Fannie and Freddie didn't take fed money until the recent bailout, and that Africa is not a country but a continent are not gaffes - they are serious gaps in knowledge that raise red flags as to the competence of the voters of Alaska and the vetting and judgement of John McCain.

But I encourage Republicans to continue to support Sarah Palin, and to run her in 2012. I believe that is what the country needs - a guaranteed 8 year run for Obama. The severe problems left by Bush are too deep to fill in 4 years...
