I remember when Reagan was in office, I didn't support him at the time. But that started to change when he came under serious attack for a couple of weeks because he didn't get it right when he talked about a missile. Apparently he got a shoulder fired missile mixed up with another kind...huuuuge news and chat item. I took a second look at him at that time and decided he was a pretty decent guy. I generally take a second look at people when they are under some sort of personal attack and if it is unjust they get my support, the backfire effect. I think the backfire effect played huge in this election for both Palin and Obama.
