Buddy, I think (in perfect hindsight) that a selection of Tom Ridge would have probably gotten McCain Pennsylvania and maybe Ohio.

Now, the Palin-driven money would not have shown up for a Ridge selection and he would have turned off much of the base.....but that base did not deliver electoral votes to McCain. Nowhere....no Florida, Ohio. Pennsylvania, Indiana, Virginia...did the base deliver a state in doubt.

So, Ridge would not, in my view, have done worse electorally than Palin. Might have done better.

Hindsight is always fun...<g>
