I'd disagree with you on vaccination, on the grounds that almost invariably parents refusing it are substantially less knowledgeable than the doctors, and instead are 'informed' by FUD frequently spread by scaremongers or quacks (check the recent history of MMR in the UK for the ultimate example).
And if vaccination levels slip in a population, then you are endangering not only your own children but everyone else's unprotected children... there's harm to others. Genuine, proven harm to many: whereas the harm caused by vaccines to the individual is generally anecdotal at best in all but a few very specific cases.

Oh, by all means have more rigorous testing, but when no harm is proven then vaccination has to be the default.

With that one specific exception - superb post.
