I've always been amused that someone can kill an animal and eat it but can't have sex with it. Animal abuse is against the law. Killing one humanely isn't whether you eat it or euthanize it. People generally think that killing is the greater harm than abuse but that's not how the law treats animals. Even with people I don't think that killing is necessarily the greater harm. I recall a discussion we once had on killing injured soldiers that couldn't be evacuated.
