Because the schools shouldn't be brainwashing kids teaching them moral values contrary to those of their families. Nor should churches lose their tax exemption on property and deductability of contributions or be forbidden to offer social services (from adoption services to homeless care to rehab of prisoners and addicts) because they won't perform gay marrianges, adoptions, etc.

I realize you'er on the other side and would like Christianity suppressed by the state.
