Little Joe,

this quote of yours bears repeating, because it's a good observation:
"I think we have reached that point where democracies fail. The voters have discovered that they can vote themselves benefits."

Someone famous also said much the same thing. I think you are very wary of Obama because you think he's going to raid the Treasury to "spread the wealth" and that is an understandable concern. I will remind you, though, that Bush and the Republicans already raided the Treasury to "spread the wealth" among his own cronies and the oil companies.

So I agree with you 100% that we have reached that point in our Democracy's history where it is now at risk due to these types of activities. However, we have to be vigilant about how our money is used by both parties. The only difference between the two is who gets the money. Republicans raid the Treasury to enrich the rich and the Democrats raid the Treasury to enrich the poor. They BOTH raid the Treasury to enrich someone.

At the end of the day, government exists to help all of us. So what I'd like to see is government spending in the form of investments that have a return, not on spending that disappears into the ether.
