It would be quite a miracle to inflate away debt in this environment.

Debt is far more quickly being written-off in bankruptcies and foreclosures, including a good chunk of the private 2/3 portion of our economy's $14 trillion external debt.

But those living on debt, or on the proceeds of rising asset prices, will indeed see major declines in their standard of living.
