yeah I agree with everything you said. Bush's incompetant staff and for those who were not incompetant, the cronies (like Cheney) were inexcusable. The justice dept under Bush was the worst of the incompetance.

I agree that for an economy of this size, our debt problems are not that bad, although I don't like mismanagement no matter how you slice it and thats what we have had the past 8 years. Most americans don't know what the GDP is or any of that- I had to do some research on the matter for my alt.e work.

With a 14 trillion dollar economy yearly, a 10 (soon to be 11) trillion public debt is not that bad. The problem is the sheer size of the amt is hard to finance for any external entities. If we had a 50 trillion dollar yearly GDP we would STILL have trouble financing 10 trillion in debt. Its just too much money. And there is certainly no excuse for doubling the debt in 8 years as Bush has done.

Ignoring the current recession, if I had to prioritize the issues facing the US I would say medicare is #1 and the impending 32 trillion dollar liability, plus energy independence. Those are my 2 biggies. Therefore, I advocate spending a trillion to nationalize healthcare and another trillion to incentivize green energy (national green grid and electric cars would be my preference). Those 2 things cost a lot upfront but save hugely in the long run. Healthcare should be reworked so that the 550 billion we are paying now every year, should be able to cover *all* citizens not just the elderly, since that is how much other countries pay to insure their entire population. By dumping the medicare drug plan and the private system this is possible.

On energy if we invest in a green grid and electric/plug in hybrid cars the savings will eliminate the 2 billion we spend per day on foreign oil (currently over 600 billion PER YEAR).

Those would be my two wishes. To get this through you would need the top managers and executives in the country. I see no evidence that Obama is choosing a bunch of yes men like Bush, he seems to be using the Clinton team which were excellent.

On energy I don't know how many californians are being bombarded by Chevron's "will you join us" advertising. It is a campaign that literally begs Pelosi and the democrats (who live near me) not to drive them under in the next administration. According to Chevron, "this is not a republican or democrat issue, its a human issue", and we should all "work with Chevron to conserve". LOL. Goodbye big oil.
