As a bit of perspective remember the US frequently getting into wars like Korea, Viet Nam, Gulf War I, Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Iraq, etc. There are a veterans in the general US population.

There is also a strong gun culture, and in rural areas, still some hunting culture.

Many people will not talk about the weapons they own, or their plans. I certainly don't talk to my neighbors about this.

One additional view is that in most states, the laws are written so a person can use force to defend themselves, and sometimes their property. Here in California, if a person breaks into your occupied house, and is a threat, you can shoot them dead, even if they are unarmed. California is liberal state, in Texas, you can use artillery.

Believe what you want. Americans are soft, lazy, and obedient.
They don't play with guns or drugs. They rarely commit crimes.
