Were people being harmed and I just didn't know it back then?

Lack of sales for stores

Lack of salary for retail workers

Lower sales taxes for government

Lack of opportunity to buy things that may be needed on a Sunday

All in all, a considerable financial cost to indulge the sentiments of one group in society. In fact, blue laws folded when a majority of voters decided they wanted to have normal commercial lives on Sundays, like the rest of the week. Restoring them now would be akin to imposing an 11PM curfew on everyone on Friday night because it might produce some social goods for some families; but it would restrict freedom and commerce for the majority.
