Why isn't it the same thing....just under a different name? A blue law is a type of law in the United States and Canada designed to enforce moral standards... en.wikipedia.org Your second take on it wasn't "designed to enforce moral standards." Were people being harmed and I just didn't know it back then? Dunno about any tragedies. Maybe there were some, maybe not. We didn't have cable TV reporting on such things then. I just thought it was terribly inefficient and inconvenient and was delighted to have more scheduling options once they were lifted. I'd bet it was a blessing for busy young families to not have to squeeze into stores that were terribly busy for those couple of hours, hours that could then be used for family dinners and homework and all that nostalgic stuff.
