So you think doctors should be able to openly refuse to, say, treat white people? If doctors and pharmacists are licensed to fulfill a public service, they should fill it properly. If they do not wish to do so, they can certainly find a different profession.
Their discretion about products and services is limited to MEDICAL considerations, not religious ones. Are you saying that cops should be able to ignore, say, 911 calls to Jewish homes, because they don't like the religion? Why, then, can't a public utility refuse to provide electrical services to a Baptist church because, heck, they don't like Baptists? Where does this kind of personal opinion end and professionalism take over?
If a doctor or a pharmacist can't be professional then they can find something else to do like, say, becoming radio talk show hosts or internet ministers. There are lots of different opportunities. You know, if you are a Christian Scientist, going into the medical profession is probably a big stretch.
Religious groups that violate their nonprofit status should have their tax exempt status revoked. That is the way it goes. They can still preach their 'vote for Obama and you go to hell' campaigns but not on the US taxpayer dole.
I don't know what you are talking about social services. If you want to Hail Mary and give out bread to homeless pigeons be my guest. |
