You know, curiously, I thought that that question of succession-in-office might have (only marginally) negatively impacted the vote-draw-potential of the McCain/Palin ticket.

With polls showing that majorities of the public believed that Palin was unready/unprepared to be President... (while larger majorities believed that McCain *was* prepared), when the medical actuaries posted that (based upon his age, other medical factors, and the triple recurrence of the most serious variety of skin cancer) that Palin would have a "one-in-seven" chance of assuming the office of the Presidency during a McCain first term, because of the death in office of the President, I believe that probably cost the ticket some support.
