Data on Network and Site Usage Enables Efficient Expansion with Enhanced ROI
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., Nov. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris Stratex Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: HSTX), a leading specialist in backhaul solutions for mobility and broadband networks, today announced it has put into production for Zain Kuwait a comprehensive asset and inventory management program designed to enable the company to maximize their telecommunications networking investment and optimize service to customers. This new project expands the OSS initiatives of Zain Kuwait, a leading mobile operator serving 22 nations in the Middle East and Africa. Harris Stratex Networks is delivering the new, expanded services, which enables Zain Kuwait to review the location and status of telecommunications infrastructure, power supplies, antennas and other equipment throughout the network. Zain Kuwait can obtain information about call throughput at each site, determining the number of local calls, international connections and text messages, along with their duration and other data, providing Zain Kuwait with valuable management guidance on usage across the network and site-by-site.
The OSS project was implemented by Harris Stratex Networks in conjunction with the Martin Group, a leading software developer whose advanced OSS/BSS software solutions provide communications providers with tools to manage revenue effectively.
"We worked with Harris Stratex Networks to manage inventory and track calling patterns and throughput across our network. The data we collect is valuable for our decision-making process concerning network upgrades, enhancements and expansion," said Khaled Al Hajeri, Chief Technical Officer at Zain. "This solution provides a comprehensive asset and inventory management system-coupled with the ability to provide guidance on usage across the network and site-by-site," adds Al Hajeri.
"As a telecom innovator and growing presence in their region, Zain Kuwait needs to know that their network resources and subscriber traffic are functioning reliably and information is right there at their fingertips," says Harald Braun, Harris Stratex Networks President and CEO. "Our system, which captures a wealth of information about the equipment and network traffic and makes it easily available to those who need to know, is designed to give them this confidence, to maximize the value of their investment and to help them to provide the world-class services they are known for."
