Social Security and Medicare make up over half of the $3 trillion federal budget. Major reform there can not only save tons of money, but is also necessary as the worker-to-retiree ratio goes down to 2:1. Of course with the amount of money involved, major reform is going to get THE most pushback from the current beneficiaries.

But you do agree that we need to care for our elders through SS and to provide health care for them, yes?
