That's heavy duty and reveals, just like with the post 9/11 crisis the executive branch "controllers" has used this financial crisis ruthlessly to cease power from the laws in place in this country. As i am putting Obama under the spotlight of reality(rather than the spotlight of "Fairy Tale") note he was endorsing all these Paulson led actions willy-nilly, "i endorse this. I endorse that, i fully support", and so on and so on
<<"Did the Treasury Department have the authority to do this? I think almost every tax expert would agree that the answer is no," said George K. Yin, the former chief of staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation, the nonpartisan congressional authority on taxes. "They basically repealed a 22-year-old law that Congress passed as a backdoor way of providing aid to banks."
The story of the obscure provision underscores what critics in Congress, academia and the legal profession warn are the dangers of the broad authority being exercised by Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson Jr. in addressing the financial crisis. Lawmakers are now looking at whether the new notice was introduced to benefit specific banks, as well as whether it inappropriately accelerated bank takeovers. >>
We have the annointed nine:BAC/GS/JPM/C/MS and whatever the others are.
And we know BAC and JPM and GS forces filled the room during those deal making meetings "for the good of the people", i call them the "Behind The Curtain" thugs that still hold The WH by its balls, and squeeze hard whenever it is not obedient.
If Obama was the savior as too many seem to think:) he would have simply said "i do not endorse this, it seems to be all weighted for the benefit of those that caused this."
The fact that the banks insisted they get the the peoples money with NO STRINGS attached, was blatantly outrageous.
And revealed again, their utter arrogance and the we exist and use our power at all times to do what is best for us. These banks are a country unto themselves, that have , via huge tentacles, stolen the executive branch, and keep the congress tame. Now if Obama called for a review of all this and exposed it, i would be astounded, as i don't see him other than just another handmaiden of the POWER.
The so long brilliantly productive cartoonist, that genius, Gahan Wilson, had a great "cartoon" in the New Yorker recently . Two FatCats dressed in 100,000 dollar like suits, the archetypal image of Banking Power Rulers and the one is saying to the other " The idea of privatizing the presidency of the U.S. is fine, it is i just a question who gets to own it"
Gahan cartoons are oft meant to get a nervous howl, as they can come so close to the horrible truth, you laugh in defense mechanism from screaming "o my gawd!":)
i failed even to get to the polling booth this election, so my wish to write-in Daffy Duck for POTUS is still unachieved:)
o yes, writing of Gahan Wilson, in one his earliest classic full page in color "cartoons"(in Playboy Magazine). It was a A Doctor behind his desk and sitting rather pathetically at the front of the desk was this montrous person, whose skin was green, he had like five eyes, had expanded such that his clothes were torn, and he hasd these gross large warts like on his nose and arms, you get the idea. And the caption simply reads the doctor saying " This is the worst penicillin reaction i have ever seen". Gees that may have been 50 years ago i saw that! Later, Max |
