Comtech Telecommunications Corp. Receives $1.2 Million SatCom Equipment Order to Support Military Communications

MELVILLE, N.Y., Nov. 11, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (NasdaqGS:CMTL) announced today that its Tempe, Arizona-based subsidiary, Comtech EF Data Corp., received a $1.2 million order for satellite communications equipment. The equipment will be utilized by the United States Government to expand an existing military communications network in the Middle East.

The order specifies SLM-5650A Satellite Modems with the Network Processor module, which will integrate with the Vipersat Management System already deployed in this network for fully automated network and capacity management. The SLM-5650A Satellite Modem complies with the strict requirements of the Defense Satellite Communications System (DSCS) defined in MIL-STD-188-165A, modem types I, II, IV, V and VI. It supports data rates from 64 kbps to 155 Mbps and is deployed in a range of environments including fixed, at-the-pause, and on-the-move. Government agencies, the military and commercial networks with demanding performance and/or security requirements commonly utilize this high-end modem for applications on DSCS, WGS and commercial satellites.
