No, you are being judgmental by trying to pass laws that restrict the exercise of free will for people. Stop judging people. Leave that to God.

Marriage or civil unions are a matter of legal rights. Of course gay marriage is a civil rights issue just as bans against interracial marriage were civil rights issue. The institution of 'marriage' (which should simply be civil unions for all) affects access to insurance, visitation, life and death decisions.

Again, if you want to defend marriage, try and outlaw divorce.

So, if none of you were sure he was gay then what is the hubbub about? Perhaps he wasn't but just 'seemed' gay to you. If he was, acceptance for who he was is a big part of caring for him. No one should be made to feel 'unacceptable' for who they are...that is a recipe for absolute misery in life. If that is what your religion preaches then find another.

No, marriage is a LEGAL CONTRACT. It brings with it certain obligations like being responsible for each other's debt and certain rights such as visitation in hospitals. That isn't shallow, it is reality.

That should be the limit of government's involvement in marriage. It should define a legal contract between two sane adults period.

If you want to define marriage in a religious way in your church then have at it. You can define it any way you please although adults marrying children should be done away with. No one who can't sign a contract on their own shouldn't be married.

I am not at all offended by religious based holidays. Anyone can have as many nonviolent ones as they like. I do not believe that the GOVERNMENT should be closed to observe them although it can make vacation or flex days available to employees to use as they please.

Government should not be celebrating one holiday to the exclusion of others. I have no problem celebrating a general winter holiday in its most commercial, non-religious sense which is pretty much what we do anyway.

"Of course. But a vegetarian Hindu shouldn't be told he can't open a restaurant ..... as you wish to exclude observang religious folks from the medical field."

Now you are just being a liar. Is that what God approves of?

I will repeat, no one is telling anyone they can't open a restaurant or be a doctor. The vegetarian won't be opening up a steak restaurant because that would offend his beliefs and the doctor should be in a field that doesn't offend his beliefs as well. The Hindu can't open a steak restaurant and then be shocked when he is asked by his customers for the porter house with all the fixins. Ditto the doctor who goes into a medical specialty and is shocked (shocked I tell you) when his customers ask for legal services.

Your lying about what I am telling you or, I'll be kind, your deliberate misinterpretation of what I am saying is pretty stupid.

Bill Frist = CARDIOLOGIST
Ron Paul = LIBERTARIAN except when it comes to women's choices. If he harasses pregnant women who want to have abortions then he harasses women. He isn't a true libertarian, he's just a libertarian of convenience. If someone wants to sue him for failure to provide adequate medical services then they should. If no one does then he gets away with providing OBGYN services as he has been.

You provide a link and then claim that it said one thing and then now you claim you disagree with the article you linked to? Are you altogether firm in the head? You are all religious bluster and shallow right wing talking points.

Churches are tax exempt organizations. I don't know how far their legal requirements against discrimination go. I don't suppose a church can have a 'no whites allowed' policy or a 'no men allowed' policy but I don't know. Can you legally have a black women only church with tax exempt status?

Bill Frist lied about acquiring the cats from a shelter. He is a schmuck.
