RW, I have a real problem with Democrats trying to blame everything on deregulation, as if Bush's faux deregulation really counts.

Government grew by leaps and bounds under Bush, yet the ROI tanked. Democrats rightly point to that as a failure of Bush, but what they propose is even more government, thinking that the only missing ingredients are intelligence and foresight.

Maybe the failure isn't one of conservatism or libertarianism. Maybe the failure is a real betrayal of the ideals that gained favor back during the Reagan revolution. Even Clinton seemed to be more of a Reaganite after 1994 than Dubya, though he'll never admit it.
