If the market for workers is such that X amount of compensation is required, and part of it is paid in the form of insurance premiums, and then you start taxing the employees for those premiums, and having the government pay them from the tax receipts, you won't reduce the demand for compensation from the employees. You will just shift it to demands for more cash, or new types of benefits.

That doesn't make any sense.
