The actions of the government are part of the reason the private sector is in the mess.

Also even if the government had no responsibility at all for the perverse incentives it gave the private sector, the more directly government related parts of this mess add to the problem. The private sector actors being in a problem, doesn't remove this government addition to it.

Baloney. It's only a 'separate issue' because you proclaim it as such.


Its an entirely separate issue, because it had little to do with the housing bubble.

Separate, or irrelevant doesn't imply unimportant. But even if it is important (clearly it is to you) that doesn't mean its relevant to what we are talking about.
