Are you saying that someone who is gay or lesbian is required to 'marry' someone they cannot have sex with in order to enjoy the benefits of marriage or they cannot 'marry' someone they can have sex with and always have sex outside of marriage? Does that sound right to you? Why is that such an issue with you people? Since there have been same sex marriages in other parts of the world and even in San Francisco, has your marriage or any heterosexual marriage been damaged? How? Is there a huge jump in heterosexual divorce rates due to the existence of same sex marriage? I have no problem not inviting gay activists into schools along with not inviting the ROTC, the scouts, any religious observances including Xmas (call me the Grinch) and anything that has an opinionated bent to it including ID. Alternatively, invite everyone. Frankly, I think schools spend way too much time on junk and too little time on reading and writing and arithmetic. Sarah Palin went to 6 years of college and look how she turned out. No one is going to turn a child gay or lesbian although the stupid and foolish can be turned into Republicans. 'Same sex marriage is being treated like the major human rights issue in the world." No it isn't. It is just one of many. The Proposition 8 people were hysterical nincompoops trying to harm people they don't know and will never meet. They are disgraceful. The Mormon Marriott Hotel chain is one of the largest purchasers of pornographic movies. Nice company you guys keep. "The same sex marriage issue has nothing to do with gay sex, which is legal everywhere in the US" That is absurd. Most of what you people do resolves around sex, money, power and violence. Nice religion you have going there. There you go again being hyperbolic and hysterical. Doctors and other business people who discriminate in this way harm people. The law is there to prevent the harm from continuing and, if appropriate, provide compensation for said harm. Don't ignore the Swedes who are refused service for being Swedish. Having a durable power of attorney tattooed onto your belly is a big deal. Are you going to carry one around in a zippy bag attached to your ankle? You are approaching silliness. That's right. Your anecdotal evidence trumps hospital policy. The right wing nuts who went hog wild over Proposition 8 and who regularly spend all of their time thinking about other people having sex are the ones who are obsessed. Obviously, other people having sex offends you and your ilk. You need to get that checked out as it appears to be an addiction with the christian right. "Why aren't you folks pushing for civil unions? " Gee, what have I been talking about? Do you actually pay attention or do you just post reflexively from your spleen. I believe that EVERYONE should have a civil union from a secular government. Make it a legal contract between adults. Put marriage into the private sector and let people use that term to mean what it may. Churches do all kinds of strange and bizarre things so making up a private marriage pact shouldn't take too much effort.
