Dave,

Thanks.

Btw CPUs still have their own market which is and is not a comodity product. Intel of course dominates the market but has created a glut of low end CPUs and as well has dropped the price dramatically.

Their classic Pentiums are obsolete and yet it is more than enough for most home users. For that reason they are not much less than their MMX chips. Also it does not cost Intel any more to manufacture MMX chips as classics.

In addition Intel is trying to sell their silly PII chips which requires a slot 1 plug in board which also requires a completely different chipset and motherboard. This just drives the prices of PCs up dramatically. Because they are new with even less competition their prices don't drop as far. Although I believe when the K6 works out their problems then they can steal 10% of Intels market and those prices will drop. Of course I am waiting for the K6 to be readily available and reasonably priced to go with that one.

How DRAM relates to CPU I am still not sure except that INTC has 80% of CPU market and it is a more complicated market. If anything maybe Intel is in more trouble with their market because PC market is getting saturated ....but the DRAM market includes PCs market, plus upgrade market, as well as other consumer markets other than PCs, ie Servers, comunications.

Thanks
