how about the libertarians join up with the Republicans and start lobbying for their principles there? Some have left the LP and gone with the Republican Liberty Caucus. The organization looks a little moribund now, in the mid 90s a few Congressman were members, now the only member who holds a seat is Ron Paul. rlc.org
