Wade,

Hank Paulson is a thief. He can't wait until he can step down and then slide off the radar screen. He did what he was told to do which was to get the largest welfare package for his Wall Street and banking buddies shoved through Congress. This was never a bailout package for distressed mortgaging. This was the spin that they felt was necessary to get Congress to swallow this hook, line, and sinker. Which they did!
