I posted a story some time ago about windmills somewhere -- can't remember exactly, but I think was in the US -- confusing bat's sonar and killing them in droves.

But you are right, the main threat to birds, besides destruction of habitat, is domestic and feral house cats, with smacking into lit up high rises close behind.

They are many fewer songbirds in my neighborhood each summer than there were twenty years ago.
