Sorry to hear that. So far my friends and family have been unaffected, outside of 401Ks. They were warned repeatedly. I've also told a couple of them (two years ago) that I would likely give them a call one day in a few years, and tell them it was time to begin aggressively buying oil. That it would be the last opportunity of their lifetimes. I think I'm going to call them and give them a heads up on that one.

Just did a frustrating exercise. I really, really, REALLY wanted to take some profits - somewhere, anywhere - in my portfolio. But I only found a handful of shorts that were anywhere near their long-term potential support. Went ahead and covered GS and MHK - figure I might be able to get a low risk re-entry over the holiday season.

Risk/reward remains too attractive to cover the rest. So, I'll just hang out and try to stay fully hedged. Given the choice of covering SCHW or AMZN, or staying short and hedging with SPY, I'll take the latter. Stocks like that have a lot of giving left to do.

And THAT is why I take positions in individual stocks, as opposed to just the indexes.
