The new startups out there don't pay their hourly labor $73 per hour plus benefits. They are not strapped with enormous pension liabilities. And they don't run into political interference when they attempt to reform their labor expenses.

Comparing the challenges of a high tech startup to those of the Big 3 is comparing apples to bananas. Nevertheless, many startups have filed for bankruptcy, so I see no good reason why Detroit shouldn't follow the same process if need be.
