Hedge fund selling in advance of a Saturday deadline contributed to the market's gyrations There is one slight problem with this theory. The deadline is for requests to withdraw funds by the end of the year. The selling to raise the money to cover the requests can continue. It has nothing to do with Nov 15 AFAIK. You don't get your money out on Nov 15.
