Sun lays off 1/5 of its remaining work force, releases exec VP of software, and goes up four cents on a big down day! If they keep going like this, 1/5 of their remaining work force will involve a fractional person. The software group formerly run by one guy is "reorganized" into four pieces which will be merged, respectively, into the marketing, sales, finance, and facilities groups. (I made that last part up, but given their recent management track record, it might be better for JAVA to implement a bad internet joke than to do whatever they're really going to do.) news.cnet.com Interesting that, at 5pm Pacific, mine is the first comment on this development on this thread today. --QS
