I have no doubt that ethics is a big part of Law School, although I don't know for a fact.

I recognize the need for attorneys to represent their clients interests because that's the way our legal system works. By far the majority of attorneys are honorable and ethical. I have no reason to believe otherwise, except for bad lawyer jokes which probably have some basis in a small minority.

What bothers me is that so many of our politicians are attorneys. The Clintons, Nixon, Obama and Biden, and Lord knows how many in congress. I don't know why that seems to be so.

The result is that many of our laws are incomprehensible to anyone but attorneys, and as you suggest, expediency is often a factor in how they view the world.
