The BMI is utterly worthless. It makes me question the intelligence of doctors as a whole.

Way back when, they would dunk you in a tank to find out how much fat you had. That being impractical and expensive for the population at large, they tried calipers, then went to a BMI determined by working backwards from your weight and height. Corrupted the whole idea of finding out how much fat you have. It may not work but it's convenient, which is like looking for your lost keys under the street light. It's no different from the old height and weight charts, just reduces it to one number.
