Well I think you have to add that it was all facilitated by the Fed. Without the Fed running negative real interest rates for years at a time these various asset bubbles never would have had fuel. This was the primary driver in the under-pricing of risk across a wide spectrum of financial vehicles, as all kinds of people chased yield into more exotic entities.
