Diversity can be of economic value to a business enterprise.

In my workplace, probably 65% of the engineers have Chinese as their first language. This is not uncommon in Sllicon Valley, and we should be very grateful that the US has siphoned off so many of the very best.

However, when the percentage gets that high, Chinese becomes the main language of hallway conversation. This (IMO) has a negative effect on the interchange of ideas. Hallway conversations are an extremely important part of business communication in a cube-farm world.
