Paul, I believe there will be a transition lull because there is and will be enough 200mm capacity for the projected growth in 1998 and 1999. This will allow FABs to reduce spending on 200mm technology and wait for 300mm to mature. FABs will still be buying 200mm as needed, but I think spending will be flat in 1998 and not at levels that folks are predicting.

Maybe this is why we had a significant increase in 200mm orders this year....they will be able to use and write off the 200mm equipment by the time 300mm comes around. Once again....on one wants to the last to build a 200mm fab especially in 1999

In the long run, 1999 and out I am quite bullish on this sector. 300mmm revenues should be kicking into gear in 2000.
