Qwik,

Let me get this straight. JAVA bought MySQL for a $1,000,000,000. They give away the software for free with the hope that they will recoup their investment in recurring maintenance fees. And, as of today JAVA's total market cap is under $3,000,000,000. So, MySQL goodwill is approximately 1/3 of the total market cap of the enterprise.

The ponytail pulled off another wonderful transaction. If you read his blog you would think that JAVA has a bright future because customers want change and will change to a lower cost alternative than the proprietary vendors.

Let me ask you this. If you were the U.S. government (i.e., the newly appointed CTO) would you purchase software from ORCL, IBM or from JAVA? How can the Ponytail justify even taking a salary? Even the greediest Wall Street folks at Goldman Sachs have said that they would not take any bonuses this year.

JAVA and the Ponytail should be the poster child for what is wrong with corporate America.
